Langgam Pos - President Joko Widodo, commonly known as Jokowi, is set to convene a full cabinet meeting at the new Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan before Indonesia's 79th Independence Day celebrations on August 17, 2024. This inaugural cabinet session in IKN is scheduled for August 12, 2024.
"The cabinet meeting in IKN is confirmed for August 12," said Yusuf Permana, Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media at the Presidential Secretariat, to reporters on Saturday, August 3, 2024.
Yusuf confirmed that all ministers from the Indonesia Maju cabinet will attend this historic meeting. They will be staying at the Nusantara Hotel during their visit.
"All ministers will be present and will stay at the Nusantara Hotel," Yusuf added.
Previously, Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono mentioned that President Jokowi would be working from IKN from July 11 to 14, 2024. In addition to the cabinet meeting, Jokowi is expected to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for a new project in IKN.
"During this period, he will be there from July 11 to 14, with a groundbreaking event on July 13. We are hopeful that it will be open to the public and will include an invitation to the governors," Basuki said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Thursday, August 1, 2024.
Basuki will head to IKN on July 9, 2024, with other cabinet ministers expected to arrive and stay in IKN as well.
"Some ministers will stay overnight, while I will be there starting July 9. The exact schedules of other ministers will depend on their individual plans," Basuki noted.
He also mentioned that the furniture for the Presidential Palace in IKN is nearly installed, and water services are operational at the palace and Nusantara Hotel.
"The furniture from the State Secretariat is already there, just needs to be set up, and the water is working at the Nusantara Hotel. Everything is on track," Basuki concluded.
