Langgampos.com - Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto plans to establish a new government body called the Ministry of National Revenue. This initiative was revealed by Hashim S. Djojohadikusumo, CEO of Arsari Group and Prabowo’s younger brother, as part of an effort to enhance state revenue management.
Hashim announced that Anggito Abimanyu, currently serving as Deputy Minister of Finance, is slated to take on the role of Minister of National Revenue. According to Hashim, the new ministry will focus on improving taxation systems, customs regulations, and addressing budgetary inefficiencies.
“The overhaul of our tax system, customs policies, and other programs aimed at sealing budgetary leaks will fall under the jurisdiction of Mr. Anggito Abimanyu as the new Minister of National Revenue,” Hashim stated during the 2024 National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Leadership Meeting at the Mulia Hotel in Jakarta on Sunday, December 1, 2024.
Hashim clarified that Anggito’s current position as Deputy Minister of Finance is temporary, as he is set to transition into this new ministerial role. He emphasized that the Ministry of National Revenue will also handle state income streams, including royalties from the mining sector.
"I think his role as Deputy Minister is only provisional. Eventually, he will be appointed as the Minister of National Revenue. The ministry’s scope will include taxes, customs, and revenue management such as royalties from mining and other sectors," Hashim explained.
The idea of establishing the Ministry of National Revenue surfaced prior to Prabowo’s official announcement regarding his cabinet structure. Hashim had previously disclosed this plan, which aligns with the eighth point in Prabowo's Asta Cita program—a strategic vision that includes creating a National Revenue Agency, which will now function as a full-fledged ministry.
"There’s an eighth point in Asta Cita, the National Revenue Agency, which will become the Ministry of National Revenue. The minister has already been selected," Hashim shared during an economic discussion with senior international entrepreneurs in Jakarta on Monday, October 7, 2024.
