Langgampos.com - The inauguration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on January 20, 2025, is drawing substantial financial backing from major cryptocurrency companies. Four leading crypto firms have already pledged their support to Trump’s inauguration committee.
According to Crypto Briefing on Monday, January 13, 2025, Circle is the latest contributor, donating USD 1 million, equivalent to IDR 16.3 billion (based on an exchange rate of IDR 16,317 per USD). This move reflects the company's intent to foster strong relations with the incoming administration.
Circle joins Ripple, Coinbase, and Kraken in supporting Trump’s inauguration efforts. Jeremy Allaire, Circle’s co-founder and CEO, announced that the company recently contributed 1 million USDC to Trump’s inauguration committee.
The Trump-Vance Inauguration Committee, established to oversee Trump’s second-term inauguration events, set a fundraising target of USD 150 million. According to ABC News, contributions have exceeded this goal since December.
Ripple previously announced a USD 5 million donation in XRP tokens for the January inauguration celebrations, as reported by FOX Business. Meanwhile, CNBC reported that Coinbase, Kraken, and Ondo Finance collectively donated more than USD 3 million.
In addition to crypto firms, prominent tech executives have also pledged substantial contributions. Jeff Bezos (Amazon), Sam Altman (OpenAI), and Mark Zuckerberg (Meta) each committed USD 1 million. Robinhood Markets offered USD 2 million, while Uber and its CEO Dara Khosrowshahi promised USD 1 million each.
Unlike political action committee (PAC) donations, contributions to inauguration committees have no limits. These funds will support various inaugural events, including parties and parades, marking the start of Trump’s second term in office. (*)
